The room is filled with energy as the ladies from kookyjar enter the lisof classroom. Me very nervous and them quite as excited. Trying our level best to keep our voices toned down as we are just below the library room. Ssshhhh!!! LOL  


Q:  So ladies how did you guys start?
A: it’s so funny how we started, Thobi, Kg, Lee(myself),Lu, Lavy and Cheryl just started rapping, it was all a joke  at first we were bunking textile class and just started writing songs to pinky and the brain. And months later 4members fell away and now we 2
Q; Where does kookyjar come from
A: We don’t remember our original name, well look into it and because  cheryl-anne couldnt stop singing cookie jar by gym class heroes she suggested the name and  it stuck
COOKIE IS A PLAY ON PUN, MEANING CRAZY AND JAR BEING THE CONTAINER TO OUR CRAZY.. CONTAINED CRAZY
WE ALSO HAD INDIV. NAMES TOBI- SCITOBZ, KG-KRAZY TREND, LEE- MENTALEE, LAVY BEING DEMENTIA, LUSINE-LU-NATIC

Q: what are u guys up2 now?
A: we trying to work with producers that are willing to make beats for us for our mixtape
We also fashion students so we juggling school music and business ventures oh and sad love lives...
Q: what producers you working with
A: producers playground, brainchild but wev recieved beats from sooo many people
Q: what is your inspiration
A: alternative hip hop, old scholl jams, 90s music
Q: what is alt hip hop
A: ALT HIP HOP is hh with other influencing genres such as rock, jazz etc
Q: if u cud colab with any1 who wud it b
A: sphaza shop boys and intern. Franc ocean, jessie boykins iii , naeto c,m.i, wizkid, and people with a say
Q: why so littles south africa n artists
A:most sa artists are really bubblegum, popping bottles and that isnt for us
Q: where do u see yourself
A: an international act, the South African market isn’t big enough. I think Africa is the next big thing. You have to be big first before going international. I feel we can grow
Q: Do you find yourselves different from other up n coming rappers?
A: Yes we are different, because firstly we are females, we studying fashion and we’re young.  Its something that happened by chance, we never knew we could rap, never even listened to much to rap music.
KG: I started listening to hip hop because i thought boys liked girls who are into hip hop.
Q: Who would you say your music is targeted to?
 A: Our music is directed to people to like a different sound , anyone who likes music and pays attention to lyrics.
 Q: What kind of message is kooky jar trying to send out with their music?
A: That u can be anything you want to be, i won’t even be sexist about it because we females. It’s cool being smart, no need to dumb yourself down and be what people want you to be.



We are trying to take over the world.
