This gentleman right here goes by his stage name of ELLO, but his reall name is Thabo Patrick Mdiniso, who is a young star in the making.
Nothing short of a musical prodigy, in the few years that this Soweto bred rapper, has been active in music, he has done what many of his peers in the industry are still to achieve.
Ello’s debut single “Phambili”was released in March of 2012, to much hype and public excitement. The song features respected rapper Gift “Maggz” Magubane and has enjoyed a long run at the number one spot on 5FM’s official hip hop show. The video for the single has received critical acclaim and has been said to be one of the more prominent videos, in quality and concept, to be released this year. Ello is also among a very small pool of artists to have collaborated with international music royalty. Papa Wemba, a colossal figure in Africa’s musical history and regarded pioneer of soukous, lent his voice to Ello’s catalogue for a song titled“Darling”. The song also features SA vocalist Jamal, and the video has been playlisted on various international TV channels, soon to be on local television.
In addition to this, Ello has also recently worked with local Award winning superstars Morale of the Glittz Gang, and veteran emcee Slikour of Skwatta Kamp, for his third single “Jo’burg City (Sin City)”. He has been featured in HYPE magazine’s Newcomer’s Delight as one of 2012’s promising prospects and is cosigned by major players such as DJ Clive, DJ Milkshake, YFM and ICU, among others. Ladies and gentlemen, save a seat for Ello at the head of the table; there’s about to be a new prince of hip hop.
